Carneval Time!

So many photos and never any time to get them on the blog! This morning Luca's school and the local primary school had their carnival procession through Roccavione. In previous years Luca has had a miserable time, not wanting to walk or wear his costume and crying for the entire circuit with me trying to jolly him along and ending up either carryiong or dragging him to the finish. This year, what a relief, he kept his costume on and kept walking and even managed to give me a smile on occasion. Well, he is five years old after all.........!

There was visible relief on Luca's face when he asked me "Mummy, have I still got my tail?", and I said yes!
Amy and Tanya showing off the dresses I bought them in the winter sales.
I started weaning the girls about a month ago - great fun! In the begining Tanya didn't want to know, she just wanted her milk but Amy tucked in to her stewed apple puree right from the word go. Now it's Tanya who repeatedly opens her mouth, resembling a little fish, and Amy who uses her tongue to push most of her vegetable puree back out of her mouth again! Tanya likes to suck her fingers while she's eating which is very messy, particularly when carrots are involved which stain everything a lovely bright orange!
Both girls are becoming more and more mobile as the days pass. Amy immediately rolls onto her tummy when she's put on the floor and proceeds to roll to wherever she wants to go. She gets very upset if she's on her tummy, sees something she wants but can't quite reach it - how frustrating! Tanya only recently started turning onto her tummy, prefering instead to push herself along on her back. She's also discovered how to rock herself in her chair and does so for minutes at a time so that it sounds like we've got a train passing through the house!

Lovely, lovely carrot puree. Doesn't look too impressed, does she?!
A word about the weather before I go. Can't believe the U.K. has had snow and we haven't. It's just not on; we live at the foot of the Alps for heavens sake! I didn't tell Luca as he's already asking when we'll be going to England. If he knew there was snow there he'd be on the next plane!
